In keeping with the tongue-in-cheek “desert” theme of the Sons of the Desert, each local chapter of the society is called a “tent,” and is named after a Laurel & Hardy film.
Our Palm Springs tent is named after one of the boys funnier shorts called "Brats". In the film, Laurel & Hardy are watching their kids make a mess while having fun playing together and bothering the dads. Stan tells the kids "If you have to make noise - do it quietly". There are over 100 movie names we could have chosen, but the movie Brats features just Laurel & Hardy (twice) with no other supporting cast. We like it like that. Worldwide, there are well over 100 active tents, whose members meet regularly to enjoy Laurel & Hardy movies in an informal atmosphere. They drink and tell stories of a bye-gone era while keeping the memory of this comedic duo alive. The Brats Tent does that also but we have elevated it to an art form where we have learned how to "Party Hardy".
